Indigenous children were forbidden to perform their traditional ceremonies that included music and dance. The aboriginal community was known for its very unique musical traditions. Variety of musical instruments were used and singing was widely popular. Musical instruments create songs and songs create dance. The traditional art of the First Nations is part of the First Nations pride. Indigenous song, dance, and art are considered sacred and forms the Indigenous identity - explaining why the prohibition is an important issue.
