Assimilation of Indigenous Children in Residential Schools

The issue is about investigating the treatment of aboriginal children in residential schools, in attempts to assimilate them, by making them lose their culture including language, food, forms of entertainment such as music, dance and drama, and spiritual rituals in order to adapt to Western European culture. We should care about this issue because the negative effects of assimilation are still evidently present- and can be observed in today’s society.
